SENIOR FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEER


LOCATION: TAIWAN:

Solantro Semiconductor Corp. is a privately held fabless semiconductor company, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that designs, develops and manufactures chipsets & associated reference/evaluation platforms for power electronics, initially targeting the Solar PV Panel market.

We are looking for a motivated Senior Field Applications Engineer to join our Marketing / Product Management team. As a senior member of this team, you will help establish the Field Applications Engineering function within Solantro that supports all phases of customer-focused product lifecycle management from early stage pre-sales engagements, through to design-in management, production validation and end-of-life. While reporting to the VP Marketing, you will have regular dialogue and interaction with all functional groups within Solantro, especially H/W Engineering, IC Engineering and the CTO’s office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide pre and post sales applications and technical support to customers and the sales forces on Solantro’s Solar PV products, tools, hardware and documentation via phone, e-mail and site visits.
  • Engage with key customers and manufacturing partners to develop system understanding ahead of new product development.
  • Perform system level design analysis and develop solutions for complete end-to-end solutions.
  • Identify and create reference designs using Solantro products for existing and emerging markets segments to reduce customers’ time to market.
  • Develop and manage customer focused evaluation boards and demonstration kits.
  • Generate application notes, user guides, and other product support documentation.
  • Recruit and Mentor junior team members as the company grows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)               
  • Minimum 7 years of direct experience with mixed-signal semiconductors and applications
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment, and manage multiple tasks with a minimum of supervision, driving to closure
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to communicate and work well with other team members.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering under pressure with a high degree of professionalism
  • High degree of creativity, determination, innovation
  • Familiarity with Solar PV installations and power distribution techniques
  • Knowledge of North American International Solar PV, standards, protocols and certifications
  • Extensive international travel
  • Fluent in Mandarin 

ADDITIONAL ASSETS:

  • Knowledge of end-to-end grid-tied Solar PV installations, particularly in the residential and commercial segments.
  • Technical expertise in Solar PV installations and standards, especially as they relate to grid-tied inverters such as: IEEE 1547, UL1741 VDE00126.1.1, G.83.

SEMICONDUCTOR TEST ENGINEER


LOCATION: PENANG, MALAYSIA:

Solantro Semiconductor Corp. is a privately held fabless semiconductor company, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that designs, develops and manufactures chipsets & associated reference/evaluation platforms for power electronics, initially targeting the Solar PV Panel market.

We are looking for a Semiconductor Test Engineer to develop and sustain high quality & cost effective test solutions for testing of Solantro chips in volume production in Penang, Malaysia, where our assembly & test partner is located.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop test solutions for the Teradyne Catalyst or other testers to test Solantro chips in volume production.
    • Design the tester loadboard
    • Develop and maintain test programs to improve yield, test time and quality
  • Help analyze yield data to finalize production test limits and datasheet parameters.
  • Work closely with IC Designers to define test methodology and DFT (Design for Test) of new chips
  • Work with functional teams, such as Operations and Engineering, in order to ensure we ship cost effective high quality and reliability products.
  • Travel as required to learn new devices and interface with engineers in head office

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum B.S. Electrical/Electronics with 5 years progressive hands-on experience in developing semiconductor test programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with power electronics and AC/DC conversion, semiconductor fabrication, device operations, parametric measurement techniques etc.
  • Proven experience in developing production test programs with fast test times for the Teradyne Catalyst required. Experience on other similar test platforms in a high volume production environment will also be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing test programs for Labview/PXI an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills, very organized, with keen attention to details.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills necessary.
  • Able to work as part of a team, as well as independently, on multiple tasks concurrently – with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
