Tian-Shen Tang, PhD

President and CEO

Over 35 years of semiconductor experience spanning academic and technology research, IC design, business development, sales and marketing, start-up company and corporate management in both Northern America and China. Previous positions include Executive Vice President of SMIC (NYSE: SMI, HKSE 981), Vice President of Shanghai Huahong NEC Electronics Company (now HHGrace HKSE 1347), and co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Penstar Technology Company. Also served Intel Corp.in a variety of roles earlier in his career. Began his career in the United States at Texas A&M University - Kingsville, rising to become a turned associate professor. Was honored Scientific Chinese Figures 2015. Earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, and master’s and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station.


 


Luke Smith

COO

Previous positions include Chief Operating Officer of Newport Media; President and CEO of Potentia Semiconductor Inc.; Chief Operating Officer and Site Manager for Philsar/Conexant; Vice President of Operations for Synergy Semiconductor; and Vice President and Manufacturing General Manager of Analog Devices Inc. Also served National Semiconductor Inc. in a variety of roles earlier in his career. Earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from UNL in 1970 and 1971, respectively.  Earned MBA from Westminster University, Salt Lake City, in 2001.  Is a Fellow of NUTech Ventures at University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and was a Fellow of Arizona State University Furnace Program. 


Chris Winkler

VP Business Development

25+ years of experience in the semiconductor and wireless equipment industries spanning a variety of leadership roles in Fortune 500 companies and start-ups. He was previously with MEMSIC, where he was Executive Business Unit Director leading strategic marketing and product lines responsible for novel new MEMS sensing products to address the challenges of the enterprise server, storage, industrial power, IOT and motor control markets. During his career he has lead Power Analog and MOSFET products at Fairchild Semiconductor, led advanced RF systems technology at Motorola Mobility, led RF power amplifier solutions Motorola Semiconductor and engineering development at Home Wireless Networks Chris has published a wide variety of articles across a variety of industries and holds a BSEE & MSEE from Iowa State University.

 

Des Hickey

VP Finance

Over 24 years experience in Finance and Administration roles for privately held high technology corporations.  VP Finance Philsar Semiconductor (acquired by Conexant Systems in 2000 - NASDAQ: CNXT / SWKS); CFO Seaway Networks Inc. (acquired by Freescale Semiconductor in 2005 - NYSE:FSL). 


Mihai Varlan

VP Engineering

25+ years of management experience in HW design of complex systems comprised of analog and high speed digital application. Covered System, High Level or Detailed Design for a multitude of deployed products including Low Power Data Loggers, High Speed Data Acquisition Systems for Sonar Applications and multiple networking blades providing advanced packet processing from T1 up to OC48 speeds.
